Nah... the way I see it, is that he's probably a big guy, and uses the name to let the ladies know that he's a "gentle giant", so to speak.
If he were actually Gay, he'd probably refer to himself as "Doug". It's much more "manly", and attractive to men who prefer masculinity.

I've got some mild kind of tendonitis, and prefer to wear a wrist brace when I play. I can do it with bass, but it gets in the way with guitar, so I just throw it off when I switch to lead and put it back on for bass.

The "Dougie" thing is because I kept ending up in online groups that had seven guys named Doug and I'm the only one who doesn't give a shit about it, so I went with Dougie. I HATED that name when I was a kid, because there was an older Doug in the neighborhood who used to fuck with me (you can probably tell I wasn't exactly free of being fucked with by other kids at that age) and everyone called me "Little Dougie", which made me feel REALLY good about myself, the twisted evil fuckbags.
Anyway, now I don't mind. Most people call me Doug, and I don't mind Dougie at all. Particularly when phone-fucking a girl. Oops, I shouldn't ahve said that...
