Fatherly Advice

Reading Crystal Zevon's book on her late husband, I came onto the tale of when Warren met and hung out with Keith Richards. (Imagine the years of combined experience in debauchery in that room.)

Keith shared with Warren the advice his father had given him on women when he was a boy.

"Son, it's the second hole down from the back of the neck."

Good thing I don't have a son...

I like the talk in the classic move Life With Father. I know I can't come close to quoting it, but the son asked his father to tell him "about women," now that he was getting older.

His father told him how women can be demanding. They always take simple things and then try to confuse you with them. They want things that they don't need, and they don't understand how it affects the household budget. You need to be firm with them. Don't give into their irrational decisions. You need to show them who is in charge.

The son said that he meant "about women!"

The father said, "But I have told you about women. Just remember. Be firm."
